Ian Macready, Director of Communications at Viewport Studio, will be presenting : Space in the Desert: Our spatial design platform. A talk about the Studio’s journey and their work at Virgin Galactic Spaceport, The Gateway to Space building, in the New Mexico desert, designed by world-renowned, UK-based Foster + Partners. Viewport Studio curated a combined customer and employee experience alongside a completely bespoke interior design for the public-facing spaces and the operations centre of Spaceport America. The Virgin Galactic Spaceport is the world’s first purpose-built commercial spaceport and Virgin Galactic’s human spaceflight headquarters and center of flight operations.
Moreover, Macready will present Hyper, the design tool that was used for the Virgin Galactic Spaceport project and beyond.

Ian Macready, Viewport Studio Communications Director
Ian, after a degree in Economics, worked in Finland with Nokia and then pursued a career back in London, working in sales and marketing at director level for some of London’s leading furniture design companies such as Aram Designs, Coexistence, and Vitsoe. In 2006, he joined architect Voon Wong to create the business VW+BS, which in 2014 became Viewport Studio. Ian has worked as the in-house design manager over a variety of clients and projects from cabin interiors for Virgin Atlantic to major client activations for Delta Airlines. Ian has spoken widely on the business of design at many international conferences and edits and publishes the in-house Viewport Magazine.
